How to control moisture content during furniture production and processing?(1)

For reasons of space, the article will be divided into two parts.
During the furniture production process, wood is exposed to the atmosphere, so how can we control the moisture content within the range we need? Take the antique furniture exported to the United States with a controlled moisture content of 8% as an example. The basic production process of this kind of furniture is wood drying - machining - woodworking assembly - painting - packaging. Based on the entire production process, the moisture content can be controlled from the following aspects:

      1. Strictly control the final moisture content of wood drying

Wood drying is the source of moisture content control. Only when the final moisture content of dried wood reaches the required level can it be effectively controlled during processing. The moisture eliminated during the drying process mainly exists in three forms in wood: free water, washed water, and bound water (chemical water). When the wood is dried to below 30%, the free water has been completely discharged, and the water removed is the washing water in the wood, so the wood is measured at 8%. Nowadays, wood processing plants generally use dehumidification drying kilns for drying. The moisture content of the wood obtained by this drying method is relatively uniform, but the drying time is relatively long. If the furniture company does not have the conditions for wood drying itself, the final moisture content of the dried wood must be strictly controlled, and the final moisture content is preferably lower, because the wood has to go through transportation and other links.
High frequency vacuum wood drying machine may be  more suitable for wood plant and furniture company. HF vacuum wood dryer not only can dry the wood evenly also not need long time to dry. Radio frequency vacuum timber drying machine is a good choice.

      2. Control of moisture content during machining

The moisture content of wood during the machining process is difficult to control. The most effective way is to shorten the time the wood stays in the machining stage as much as possible. In rainy weather, it is best to close the doors and windows for processing, and in sunny days, it is best to open the doors and windows for ventilation. In this way, the humidity of the air in the processing workshop can be reduced, thereby slowing down the moisture absorption rate of the wood.

For some furniture parts that require secondary processing (that is, the furniture parts have to be returned to the motor workshop for size correction, sanding, or other processing techniques after being assembled by woodworking), the parts must be matched when they arrive at the woodworking workshop. Do not One part leaves other parts stuck in the shop for a long time. For example, the door caps and door stiles of door frames in antique furniture should be well-matched when entering the woodworking workshop. In this way, after the woodworking is assembled, it can be immediately taken back to the machine shop for second processing. Another way to solve the problem of moisture content is to install dehumidification equipment in the transfer buffer warehouse between the machine shop and the woodworking shop. This can also better reduce the moisture absorption rate of wood parts.
