How to control moisture content during furniture production and processing? (2)

Continue from the last article. We continue to explain how to control the moisture content of wood during furniture production and processing.
Last time I talked about the basic process of furniture production: wood drying-machining-woodworking assembly-painting-packing. Based on the entire production process, the moisture content can be controlled from the following aspects of wood drying and machining. The moisture content can also be controlled from the aspects of woodworking assembly and painting.

Control of moisture content during the woodworking assembly stage:

The woodworking stage mainly involves assembling parts. Some parts that cannot be machined (such as carved parts and curved surfaces) must be sanded by hand and carried out in the woodworking workshop. Therefore, the woodworking shop must first process the parts of a product that require secondary processing. Some furniture that is glued together is best placed in a place with heating facilities. This can speed up the curing of the glue and reduce the moisture absorption of the wood.

When all the parts are available, the finished woodworking product is generally assembled relatively quickly. However, to ensure product quality, it is still necessary to control the relative humidity of the air in the assembly workshop. Open the windows and doors on sunny days and close them on rainy days to control the moisture content of the wood.

Control of moisture content in the painting stage:

Generally speaking, the relative humidity of the air in a paint shop is high. This is because the paint itself contains moisture. Some of this moisture reacts with the paint when sprayed on the surface of the furniture, forming a paint film, but part of it is absorbed by the furniture. Nowadays, water curtain (curtain) spray painting booths are used on paint production lines, so the evaporation of moisture from the water curtain increases the air humidity in the workshop. The solvents used in paint are generally flammable and explosive organic solvents. The paint itself is also a flammable substance. These solvents are mixed with paint particles and float in the air. If this mixed gas reaches a certain concentration, it will happen if you are not careful. Burns and explodes, so to reduce the concentration of this mixed gas, the paint shop itself requires a slightly higher relative humidity. To ensure the quality of the paint film, the paint shop needs a relatively clean production environment, so the floor of the paint shop needs to be cleaned frequently. The most common method is to use a wet mop to clean the floor, which will increase the evaporation of water on the ground. Reduce the concentration of paint gas.
